ISWAP Frees Yobe Official, One Other After 4 Months

The Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) has released Ali Shehu a.k.a. Mai Lalle, a Yobe State Government staff.

The liaison officer was freed alongside his associate identified as Mustapha.

On July 24, ISWAP seized Ali, Mustapha and two Nigerian soldiers along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road.

They were ambushed near Jakana village, 41 kilometres to Maiduguri, the Borno capital.

Ali was taken from an official Toyota Hilux conveying diesel purchased for use in Yobe liaison office in Maiduguri due to prolonged power outage.

“It was not clear who negotiated with ISWAP to secure their release”, an intelligence officer told PRNigeria on Friday.

The former hostages have been reunited with their families after undergoing security profiling.

Africa Today News, New York can also report that Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) deployed at 192 Battalion Foward Operations Base (FOB) also inflicted heavy casualties on Boko Haram(BH) and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in an ambush in Pulka general area.

It was an Intelligence-driven operation that was conducted with precision in conjunction with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local vigilantes.

The operation left four of the criminal elements neutralized and a good number of arms recovered.

The fierce encounter occurred in Rengye, an area suspected to be the terrorists’ crossing point.

Aside from the neutralized terrorists, several others escaped with injuries, leaving traces of blood behind, as they fled in disarray.
