‘The President will sign the electoral bill any moment from now.

‘It could be today, it could be tomorrow, it could be anytime, but within the 30 days,’ Adesina said.

The President had withheld his assent to the electoral bill in November 2021, citing the cost of conducting direct primary elections, security challenges, and possible manipulation of electoral processes as his reason.

The Minister said this while appearing at an electoral town hall event on Channels Television which was monitored by Africa Today New York last month.

According to him, the Buhari government has allowed for the independence of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as an institution and also respected the decisions of the judiciary more than any other administration.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has claimed that President Mohammadu Buhari is afraid that giving assent to the Electoral Act Amendment Bill will make his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to fail in the 2023 general election.
