APC AfDB President, Adesina Picks N100m APC Nomination Forms

The President of the African Development Bank and former Minister of Agriculture (AfDB), Dr Akiwumi Adesina, on Saturday, picked up copies of his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms to contest for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential ticket.

According to reports, a coalition of 28 groups consisting of Youth Arise Movement, Nigerians in Diaspora One Nigeria Group, Prudent Youth Association of Nigeria, women groups, farmers, people with disabilities and other civil society groups, were reportedly the ones who raised the N100 million fee to purchase the forms for the former minister.

Africa Today News, New York reports that the coalition is led by the Head, One Nigeria Group, Mohammed Saleh.

The payment acknowledgement slip exclusively seen by our correspondent on Saturday carried Adesina’s name as the recipient of the forms.

In a related develpment, the Director-General of the Tinubu Support Group, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has dumped the All Progressives Congress.

He announced this via his Twitter handle on Saturday which was sighted by Africa Today News, New York.

The former federal lawmaker said he would announce his new party soon.

‘I have done my best for APC. It’s time to move on. I will announce my new political party within the next 24 hours Insha Allah. I will make a formal statement in due course,’ he tweeted.

Jibrin is a Nigerian politician, businessman, academic, and former member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, who has been campaigning vigorously for APC presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu.

Africa Today News, New York recalls that in March 2015, Jibrin contested and got re-elected to the House of Representatives. He was an aspirant for the Speakership of the House but later stepped down for Yakubu Dogara, who went on to win, and emerged Speaker of the eighth Assembly.

He was an APC member who represented the Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State.
