The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, has issued out a strong warning to Bashir Machina over his comments on the party’s senatorial ticket in Yobe North.
Africa Today News, New York reports that the ticket has sparked controversy after Machina, who won the primary, made it clear he would not step down for Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.
He went on to insist that despite the pressure on him, he wasn’t going to step down for anyone.

Lawan had contested for the APC presidential ticket in May, but lost.
However, Lawan, who currently represents Yobe north district, was eventually listed as the APC senatorial candidate for the 2023 general election.
Adamu has insisted that the Senate President participated in a primary for the district.
In an interview with BBC Hausa on Thursday, Adamu said: ‘If you don’t know how to set a trap for a thief, the thief will set the trap for you. Machina should be careful; his issue is getting out of hand. As far I am concerned as chairman, my party did not violate any law.
‘Is there any law that says you cannot contest for a position after contesting for another one? No law prohibits anyone from doing so.’
Meanwhile, an Abuja-based human rights lawyer who has been identified as Pelumi Olajengbesi, has described the controversial replacement of Machina’s name with that of Lawan in the recently conducted voting process, as quite unconstitutional and fraudulent.
Pelumi Olajengbesi who issued a statement on Sunday had unequivocally stated that Abdullahi Adamu, the APC national chairman, was actually hellbent on foisting Lawan on members of the party as “consensus candidate” during the buildup to APC presidential primary, announcing the Senate President against the will of members of the National Working Committee of the party and other presidential contestants.
Olajengbesi, who is the Principal Partner of Law Corridor had revealed that Adamu wants “enthrone” Lawan as the party’s Yobe North senatorial candidate, in spite of the fact that he (Ahmad Lawan) did not contest the Senatorial primary election.
