Gov Badaru Reappoints 9 Aides After Loss Of Primary Elections

The Jigawa State Governor, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar in a bit to further broaden his cabinet has finally re-appointed Baba Nasara as his Special Adviser on Due Process and Project Monitoring Bureau and some other appointments too.

Badaru had also made more appointments of eight more Special Assistants into his workforce.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Adamu Abdulkadir Fanini.

Nasara was reappointed as Special Adviser, Due Process and Project Monitoring Bureau after he lost his bid for a ticket into the State House of Assembly to represent the Gwaram constituency in the just party primary election. The re-appointed Special Assistants also include Bayero Muhammad Maifulani as his Special Assistant on Adult Education, Jamilu Dan Malam, Special Assistant on Rice Production, Zakari Kafin Hausa, Special Assistant on Basic Education, Tasi’u Sule Tankarkar, Special Assistant to the Governor on School inspection and monitoring.

Others are Sani Sabo Kwarko, Special Assistant to the Governor on Culture, Saleh Birniwa, Special Assistant to the Governor on Renewable Energy, Mansur Dabuwa as Special Assistant to the Governor on Primary Education, Salisu Taura as Special Assistant to the Governor on Basic Education II.

The statement said all the re-appointments are with immediate effect.

In another report, an outbreak of meningitis and measles in about seven local councils of Jigawa State has left no fewer than 100 people dead.

Africa Today News, New York reports that the affected councils have so far recorded 57 cases of meningitis and 72 cases of measles.

Investigations carried out in the area revealed that the epidemic covered, no fewer than six local councils and claimed over 100 lives, including children below five years old.

Some communities complained that since the outbreak about a month ago, there was poor response from state officials, in terms of drafting medical personnel and medication for prompt response in the affected localities.

But the acting Commissioner for Health, Dr. Salisu Muazu, said: ‘Upon receipt of reports of the deadly illness, we have acted promptly in both logistics and medication. I took it upon myself to draft competent medical personnel to the worst hit areas in providing all necessary medical attention to save human lives.’
