A yet-to-be-identified man on Monday deliberately set his own house on fire in Kwara State due to frustration, authorities at the State Fire Service have disclosed.
Mr Hassan Adekunle, who is the spokesman for the Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Falade Olumuyiwa, confirmed this in a statement on Tuesday morning which was made available to Africa Today News, New York.
He disclosed that the incident occurred at about 10:28 am on Monday at Lekki Phase One in the Eyenkorin area of Ilorin, the state capital.

Adekunle, while quoting reports which were made available to the agency, disclosed that the man claimed to had deliberately sprayed the three-bedroom building with petrol and set it on fire due to the high level of frustration from his wife.
According to him, the fire could have left the building completely in ruins but for a resident in the area who promptly alerted the fire service about the incident.
Adekunle added that the swift response of personnel of the fire service brought the ravaging fire under control and prevented it from spreading to other buildings in the area.
Olumuyiwa, in his reaction, appealed to residents of the state to be more vigilant in their homes, offices, and wherever they may find themselves.
The Kwara State House of Assembly has mandated the state Governor, Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq to order the state Ministry of Communications to embark on sensitisation of hoteliers on the danger of harbouring internet fraudsters popularly known as Yahoo boys in their facilities in the state.
The House also advised the ministry to collaborate with the hoteliers on the development to flush the state off the fraudsters.
This was part of a resolution by the House, on a matter of general public importance, raised by the House leader, Magaji Abubakar Olawoyin (Ilorin Central), at the plenary.
The House Leader came under Order VII, Rule 40 of the House Rules to draw the attention of the House to the need to caution owners and operators of hotels in Kwara State on the dangers inherent in harbouring Yahoo-Yahoo fraudsters in their hotels.
