Police Officer Killed As Gunmen Invade Ondo Police Station

Another police officer has been gunned down in Ondo State which comes after the invasion of Okuta Elerinla Police Division by some yet to be identified gunmen.

The gunmen had been reported to have stormed the station where they had caught the officers on duty unawares on Monday around 1:00 am.

The mission of the gunmen is yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

During the heavy gunfire, a policeman who has been identified as Boluwaji Temenu, with registration number AP. 207538 had also perished in the attack.

Confirming the attack, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Funmilayo Odunlami disclosed that officers at the station were able to repel the attack. Odunlami had also  added that the Commissioner of Police, Oyeyemi Oyediran had ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, to immediately take over the case.

In another report, there was mild pandemonium yesterday in Igoba community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State following the killing of a security guard whose name was given as ‘Mr Sunday’ by gunmen.

The yet-to-be-identified attackers who also set the station ablaze shot and killed the security guard who was manning the Titolu Venture filling station in the community.

The manager of the station, Ajisafe Oluwatobiloba, revealed that while attempting to determine what started the fire, they came upon the body of the security guard.

‘I was called by one of the residents, and when we arrived, we noticed the station blazing.

“We called the fire department, and they came to put out the fire without realizing the culprits had slain our security guard,‘ he claimed.
