The Presidential Guards Brigade on Monday engaged in a gun duel with terrorists in Abuja in a move that appeared to halt a move to attack the Nigerian Law School complex in the nation’s capital.
According to eyewitnesses, three of the highly-trained officers suffered serious injuries as they were ambushed by the terrorists.
Africa Today News, New York reports that there are fears the gunmen planned to attack the Nigerian Law School.
The signal seen by Nigerian Tribune confirmed that troops on routine patrol along Kubwa–Bwari were ambushed by the suspected terrorists.
‘Three soldiers were injured during the attack. The soldiers have been evacuated for medical attention. Details on the extent of their injuries are still under confirmation’.

‘The ambush attack happening within the general area of Bwari shows that the terrorists are actually within the location and possibly preparing to carry out their plans to attack the law school in Bwari as earlier reported’, it reads.
The Presidential Guards Brigade, an elite arm of the Nigerian Army, is responsible for protecting the President of Nigeria.
The attack occured just a day after terrorists threatened to abduct and kill President Muhammadu Buhari and Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Meanwhile, the Defence Headquarters on Thursday revealed that about 3,858 terrorists including six top commanders and their families have over the last two weeks surrendered to troops in the theatre of operation, while its troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), have neutralized 42 Boko Haram terrorists in the Northeast.
In a statement which was made available to Africa Today News, New York, Maj.-Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, Director, Defence Media Operations, disclosed that the achievements were recorded because the troops did not relent, as they took the battle to Boko Haram terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) enclaves with more coordinated operations.
Onyeuko pointed out that among the surrendered terrorists at Gwoza, were the six commanders listed below; Malam Mala Hassan (Wali), Ali Madagali (Munzur), Musa Bashir (Chief Anur), Buba Dahiru (Munzur), Jafar Hamma (Kaid) and Abbali Polisawa.
