Convoy Of Osun State Governor’s Wife Attacked By Residents

Fresh reports reaching the desk of Africa Today News, New York has revealed that the convoy of the wife of the Osun State Governor, Kafayat Oyetola had been attacked by some of the residents in the State.

The incident had taken place at Owode-Ede which is located within Ede North local government area of the state.

It has been reported that the motorcade had been heading towards the capital of the State, Osogbo when it had gotten stuck in gridlock.

As some of  the  security details alighted and attempted to make way, some of the youths had pelted them with stones.

Two security operatives were hit and wounded, a situation which had prompted some of the other escort officers to shoot into the air.

The sounds of gunshots caused people around to scamper in different directions for safety. The First Lady’s spokesperson, Iluyomade Oluwatunmise confirmed the injuries, adding that there was no casualty.

“The convoy was attacked at Owode-Ede while trying to navigate the traffic around the market.

“We believe it was premeditated as a list of some government functionaries marked for attack had been flying around on social media”, the aide said.

In another report, the defeated Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola on has finally reacted to his loss on Friday while revealing that his defeat at last Saturday’s governorship poll was a test from God.

The governor had made this statement while speaking at a meeting held at Osun Government House, Oke Fia, Osogbo with party leaders and other supporters. Oyetola had also said that rumours had been spreading around that he had run away after the election result was announced.

He said he also heard the PDP saying he was trying to convert government assets to his, urging the party faithful not to worry about them, as they were simply playing to the gallery.

“I summoned all of you here to assure you that the present situation is just a temporary setback. It is a test of our resolve by God and we will continue to stand by him. Ours is God’s project and we shall not despair.

“Go back to your various units and wards across the state and continue with regular party activities, hold your meetings regularly. We have bigger projects ahead and we must not allow this temporary set back distract us,” Oyetola said.

Oyetola had also charged the APC members and supporters not to allow the outcome of the election cause dissatisfaction and division within the party, adding that the APC remained the ruling party in the State.
