Hausa Community Calls For Reversal Of Okada Ban In Lagos

In a fresh directive to further compliment security in the State, the Niger State Government has finally announced that they are going to be disbanding the State’s taskforce which had been slated to handle the activities of all the commercial motorcycles in the state with effect from 30th August, 2022 to enhance service delivery to the people.

Alh. Yunusa Nahauni who is also the Permanent Secretary, state Ministry for Transport had made the disclosure during a meeting with some of the officers of the state Vehicle Licensing Office,VIO, and the Traffic Vanguard in Minna.

According to Nahauni, in view of this, the activities of the taskforce would now be administered by the VIO and the Traffic Vanguard in the state as well he had also explained that the decision was taken to enable the ministry to effect some changes that include repositioning and deploying staff of the Niger State Transport Agency, to ensure effective service delivery.

The Permanent Secretary noted that the measure has become necessary in order to enhance effective transportation services free from duplication of responsibility during operation.

In another report, it has been revealed that Prof Sam Egwu, who is the Niger State Resident Electoral Commissioner, National Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has revealed that a total of 248,000 voters were registered within the last one year in the state.

Egwu, who had announced this in a chat with newsmen in Minna, said out of the figure, about 229,000 were registered for the first time by the commission in the state. He explained that the remaining 19,000 voters were those who made transfers, corrections as well as those whose Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs, were damaged and came to the state INEC office for them to be replaced in the state.

The state REC also disclosed that the printed voter’s card despatched to the state from its headquarters in the first and second quarters of 2021 have been sent to the 25 LGAs for onward distribution to eligible voters registered in the respective council.
