The Nigerian Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo has made a recent revelation that Nigeria harbours a lot of requisite talents, creativity and acumen with which it can be able to become a world leader in the digital economy sector.

Osinbajo had also highlighted some of the futures of technology, digital economy and what it also means globally but especially for Nigeria.

He told the gathering that a new world is unfolding, unlike Web 1 and 2 “where we were relatively disadvantaged”.

Osinbajo recalled when people didn’t have phones and could not take advantage of the reach telecommunication gave digital innovation and financial inclusion.

“We are now better positioned to be significant players in Web 3. We have the talent to build and grow major tech companies.

“At the last count, we have 6 unicorns and many more on the way. But we must spend time on the development of digital skills.”

The Vice President had also called for more synergy between some of the government (public) and the private sector in driving the digital economy revolution.

In another report, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has asserted that the Federal Government is now in a position to benefit billions of dollars in debt relief from some creditors if the Debt-for-Climate (DFC) swap deal is accepted.

Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, pointed out that the swap deal was proposed recently in the U.S. by the vice president.

He described the idea as fresh thinking in Washington D.C by senior American government officials, is already receiving positive reviews even as Osinbajo explained the potential for significant debt cancellation for African countries.
