UFC How Drake Lost Over ₦600m For Betting On Adesanya

Canadian rapper, Drake lost heavily financially after Israel Adesanya’s defeat which was suffered against Brazilian, Alex Pereira in the early hours of today.

According to reports, Drake staked CA$2,000,000 on the Nigerian mixed martial artist with the hopes that he was going to get a win of CA$2,900,000, but it didn’t go down as he had expected as Adesanya was knocked out few minutes to the end of the contest.

Adesanya had led 3-1 going into the final round, but Pereira with clear instructions from his corner to knock out the ‘Last Stylebender’ did just that to hand him his first defeat in the category and third to the Brazilian.

Sharing a screenshot of the stake on his Instagram story, the God’s Plan singer wrote: “Been focused on the album I gotta get back to stacking up”

Drake is not new to betting and losing as he had previously placed a bet on Barcelona to beat Real Madrid in October’s El Clasico. Real Madrid ran out 3-1 winners that time.

Pereira would also become the new undisputed champion with just five fights in the UFC.

A visibly shaken, hurt and wobbly Adesanya could not keep up as the referee brought it to an end before the buzzer.

Adesanya had dominated in the opening rounds, unsettling in opponent in the third with a take down, but he had found it difficult to hold his own in the final round. The ‘Last Stylebender’ was ahead 3-1 heading into the fifth round and all he had to do was keep his challenger at bay.

Pereira’s instruction from his corner was very clear, “knock him out if you want to win this” and that was exactly what he did. Adesanya managed to keep him in check until the final seconds when he exposed himself to audible blows that gave him jelly legs before the referee stepped in to end it.
