'I Won’t Respond To You' – Rooney Hits Back At Ronaldo

Former Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney has submitted that he is ‘bemused’ by Cristiano Ronaldo’s comments about him, however, he will not comment publicly on the matter.

Africa Today News, New York had earlier reported that in an interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo had heavily lashed out at the Premier League side, manager Erik ten Hag, and former team-mates, including Gary Neville and Rooney.

On Rooney, the 37-year-old claimed Rooney was jealous of him, ‘probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level.’

In response to the explosive interview, Sky Sports News reports: ‘Rooney has decided he is going to make no public statement on the matter.’

It went on to add that Rooney ‘feels that Ronaldo needs to accept he is in the latter stages of his career. But being at a club the size of Manchester United means respecting the situation and not expecting to play every minute of every game.’

Manchester United had on Monday issued a strong statement following the explosive interview with British veteran journalist Piers Morgan.

Africa Today News, New York reports that Ronaldo had just recently granted an exclusive interview with Morgan where he lashed out at Manchester United and their manager Erik ten Hag.

The Portugal captain pointed out Man United had betrayed him and that he does not respect Ten Hag.

However, while reacting to the development, Man United, in a statement via its website on Monday, said: ‘Manchester United notes the media coverage regarding an interview by Cristiano Ronaldo.’

It added; ‘The club will consider its response after the full facts have been established.’

‘Our focus remains on preparing for the second half of the season and continuing the momentum, belief and togetherness being built among the players, manager, staff, and fans.’

Africa Today News, New York reports that the 37-year-old had claimed he was betrayed by the Red Devils and made it clear he cannot respect manager Erik ten Hag.
