Reports reaching the desk of Africa Today News, New York has it that no fewer than 10 persons have been killed following a shooting in Los Angeles.
The police in California who responded to the incident which happened late last night in Monterey Park, have stated that another 10 people were injured and the suspect remains at large.
According to investigators, there was no clear motive and at the time, it was too early to say whether the incident was being treated as a hate crime.
In marking the Monterey Park Lunar New Year festival, thousands of people had earlier gathered in the city, it is, however, not clear yet how many people were shot or whether anyone has died.

In a news conference hours after the attack, Luna said five men and five women died at the scene. The wounded were in conditions “ranging from stable to critical”, he said. Their identities have not been made public.
Video taken by local news outlets after the shooting showed wounded people, many of them appearing to be middle-aged, being loaded into ambulances on stretchers.
The sheriff’s department released images of the suspect apparently taken from surveillance camera footage showing him wearing spectacles, dressed in a dark jacket and a dark beanie hat with white stripe.
“Monterey Park should have had a night of joyful celebration of the Lunar New Year. Instead, they were the victims of a horrific and heartless act of gun violence,” California Governor Gavin Newsom said.
Videos on social media which were obtained by Africa Today News, New York showed a large police presence in the area, as security operates try to get to the root of the incident.
