Adamawa Guber Buhari Okays Immediate Suspension Of REC

President Muhammadu Buhari has given his approval for immediate suspension from the office of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), of Adamawa State, pending the completion of investigation by the Inspector General of Police on the conduct/actions of the REC during the Supplementary election in Adamawa State.

This directive was contained in a statement by Willie Bassey, Director of Information for the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

According to the brief communique, the President also directed the immediate investigation and prosecution, if found liable, of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, by the Inspector General of Police.

Similarly, the President has directed an investigation by the Inspector General of Police, Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), of the role of their officers in aiding and abetting the conduct/actions of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari and if found culpable, appropriate disciplinary actions, to be meted out to them.

Meanwhile, against the backdrop of the conduct of the recent general elections, the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari has described the process as the most transparent and hitch-free insisting that it was hitch-free.

Buhari, who penned down a message of felicitation to Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Ed-el-fitr celebration, said even members of his party, the All Progressive Congress were routed and unseated.

Buhari also said he didn’t interfere with the process in order not to give unfair advantage to anyone.

‘The elections were so transparent that even members of the my own party were routed and unseated. At no point did I interfere with the process in order to give unfair advantage to anyone,’ the President stated.

Also on the outcome of the recent polls, Buhari said that the peaceful outcome of the 2023 general elections”will go down on record as one of the proudest achievements of his administration in addition to the neutrality in the conduct of the elections.”

He made the comments on Thursday in his goodwill message to Muslims on the occasion of the Eid-el-fitr celebration to mark the end of the 30-day Ramadan fasting season.
