Kaduna Police Arrest 503 Alleged Bandits, Kidnappers

The authorities in Kaduna State have apprehended a total of 503 suspects involved in a range of crimes, including banditry, armed cattle rustling, culpable homicide, rail track vandalism, and other related offenses.

One particular individual among the detainees is Ismail Mohammed, hailing from Maijere Village in Saminaka, Lere local government area. Shockingly, Ismail not only abducted his brother, Kabiru Mohammed, but also tragically ended his life after extorting a ransom of N120,000 from their distraught family.

In a press conference held at the headquarters of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Muhammed Jalige, the official spokesperson, provided detailed information regarding the recent arrests made by the authorities. The suspects in question were apprehended over the course of May and June 2023.

During his address to the media, DSP Muhammed Jalige revealed findings made during the arrests. The recovered items included four AK47 rifles, three revolver pistols, two pump-action guns, and a haul of two thousand eight hundred (2,800) railway slippers. Additionally, the police were successful in locating and retrieving nine stolen vehicles, each belonging to different well-known brands.

The spokesperson’s remarks shed light on the commendable efforts of the law enforcement agencies in apprehending the suspects.

In addition to the earlier mentioned items, the police authorities successfully recovered two tricycles, along with a huge amount of two hundred and nine rounds of AK47 live ammunition. The diligent efforts of the police led to the rescue of one hundred and twenty-nine rustled cattle and eight sheep, which had been unlawfully taken.

The spokesperson, DSP Muhammed Jalige, emphasised that the prevailing atmosphere of peace and tranquility experienced in Kaduna State serves as a testament to the unwavering commitment of the command.

The relentless pursuit of safeguarding the lives and properties of the state’s residents is evident in the concerted efforts undertaken by law enforcement agencies.

Their comprehensive approach leaves no stone unturned in addressing and preventing criminal activities, thus fostering a sense of security and well-being within the community.

He firmly stated that the Kaduna Police Command is fully resolved to deny criminal elements any space to carry out their wicked activities across the state, assuring the residents of their safety.
