Osun: Adeleke Directs Prompt Pension Payment

Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State, has taken decisive action by issuing a directive for the prompt disbursement of pension entitlements, as outlined in the previously released plan for this year.

This was contained In an official press release issued by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson for Governor Ademola Adeleke, it was announced that the governor has given a clear directive for the swift payment of pension entitlements.

During a visit by thought leaders who paid him a Sallah homage, Governor Ademola Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to addressing the issues faced by pensioners. He acknowledged having personally heard from pensioners on multiple occasions and stressed that he would fulfill his campaign promises by taking concrete steps to address their concerns.

Governor Ademola Adeleke reaffirmed that the template issued earlier this year to address unpaid salaries and pensions remains enforced. He has instructed the State Head of Service to expedite the implementation process, specifically focusing on the payment of pension arrears in accordance with the approved template.

The statement reads: ‘The template was created with an eye on gradual clearing of the salary and pension debts. This was in recognition of the financial status of the state which is well documented and known to the public. Our administration focuses on meeting the various needs of the state within a tight financial situation.’

‘Our administration is, however, prioritising workers’ welfare, which covers in and out of service workers. I restate our commitment to the welfare of our senior citizens, the pensioners. The phased payments is a standby directive and I assure our pensioners that they are not and cannot be forgotten.’

Governor Ademola Adeleke shared that his administration is on the verge of finalizing a plan to include pensioners in the state health insurance scheme. This proactive measure aims to prioritize the healthcare requirements of pensioners, ensuring they have access to quality medical services and assistance when needed.

‘Our administration is working hard on health insurance enrollment for the pensioners. Our senior citizens need constant health attention. We think the best approach is to enrol them, as that will ease the burden of treatment during their retirement.’

‘We are working on the details. Once it is finalised, we will release it for immediate implementation’, the governor added.

This move indicates the governor’s commitment to honoring the retirement benefits of deserving individuals.
