Female Journalist Abducted In Rivers State

The Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation’s (RSBC) Director of News, Mrs. Priestba Anthony Nwokocha, has been abducted during an event in Port Harcourt.

Pastor Ebi Ogoloma, holding the position of Director of Administration at the Station, revealed the news of her abduction.

Mrs. Priestba Anthony Nwokocha fell victim to a kidnapping incident between 7 pm and 8 pm while commuting from work along Slaughter/YKC road, Port Harcourt, on Friday, July 21.

According to family sources, ‘Her car broke down along that Slaughter/YKC road, she called her husband who later came with a mechanic to work on the car. It was in the presence of her husband and the mechanic that the kidnappers came and picked her up.’

In the meantime, Ike Wigodo, the Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has urged journalists in the State to remain calm. The Union has already reached out to CP Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, the Commissioner of Police, regarding the incident. The Commissioner advised the family to make a preliminary report to the nearest Police Station, assuring them that the command is well-informed and will take appropriate action.
