The community of Lotu town within Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area, Lagos State, In an show of solidarity, have stormed the street, demanding justice for the killing of Chief Fatai Jubril. Suspected to be the work of land grabbers, the tragic incident occurred on July 15, 2023.
With placards held aloft, the demonstrators, representing various parts of society, including as youth, women, aged citizens, and bereaved family members, voiced their demand on Saturday. The focal point of their protest was to implore Commissioner of Police, Idowu Ohunwuwa, for timely intervention in the matter.
Africa Today News covered the heart-rending testimonials of both family members and residents who bore witness to the chief’s untimely demise, attributed to suspected land grabbers. Among them, the widow of the slain chief, Ejiro, recounted her distressing encounter, as she tried to shield her husband from the onslaught of more than 50 hoodlums, only to face assault herself.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, who spoke to newsmen last Tuesday, the incident was indeed confirmed. He stated that the police have initiated a manhunt to track down the suspected killers.

Africa Today News, New York, obtained a video on Saturday showing one of the protesters addressing the crowd through a megaphone. The speaker passionately urged the police and other traditional rulers in the area to collaborate in locating and apprehending the absconded suspects.
The protester said, ‘The king of Ibeju, help us to look for the suspects. The DPO Akodo please find the suspect. This is the face of the killer. This is a country with laws and others. We want justice. Please save us. Let the suspect not kill us all. He has threatened to kill us all. The government should help us.’
‘We strongly appeal to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to grant us justice. Those responsible for the death of Jubril must be caught. The matter must not be swept in the carpet.’
Despite multiple attempts to reach the state PPRO, Benjamin Hundeyin, his phone remained unanswered when newsmen placed a call on Sunday to inquire about the investigation’s status.
