Ethiopia Declares War Against Gay Sex In Hotels

Authorities in Ethiopia have revealed that they have been cracking down on hotels, bars and entertainment joints in the capital city where they allege gay sexual activities are taking place.

The Addis Ababa Peace and Security Administration Bureau, a government body, said it was taking action ‘against institutions where homosexual acts are being carried out’.

In a statement on Facebook which was sighted by Africa Today News, New York, the city authority pointed out that the actions came after tip-offs from the public, and said it had already raided a guest house.

The police have asked the public to report such activities and will continue to conduct raids in other locations.

Gay sex is outlawed in Ethiopia, but there haven’t been any recent reports of cases or convictions linked to homosexual acts.

Earlier this week, an LGBT advocacy group, House of Guramayle, said Ethiopia was witnessing “unprecedented attacks on individuals based on their real or perceived sexual orientation and gender identity”.

It called for human rights groups locally and elsewhere to condemn such attacks, and urged social media platforms to deal with hate speech videos calling for violence.

In a related development, the Church of Jesus Christs of Latter-day Saints has expressed its apprehension regarding recent efforts to incorporate educational materials touching on transgenderism, LGBT concerns, crossdressing, and other subjects associated with lesser-known sexual orientations.

The church argued that exposing children to these subjects during their formative years might lead to confusion and conflicts with conventional societal norms.

Moreover, the church places strong emphasis on the preservation of cultural values within the educational framework.

In the communique handed out at the end of the church titled, ‘Strengthening Families Conference’ held in the FCT, Mr Victor Eze, the Abuja-Nigeria Stake President, expressed their worries considering the frenzy for inclusion of inappropriate content in school curricula.
