The Lagos State Police Command is intensifying its investigation into Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, known as Sam Larry, regarding the ongoing inquiry into the events surrounding the passing of the late Singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad.
Africa Today News, New York, has gathered that Sam Larry was taken into police custody on Thursday night after he complied with a police request to appear. He is currently undergoing extensive questioning by police investigators in relation to his conflicts with the late musician.
Furthermore, information indicates that the individual currently detained at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters has not engaged the services of a lawyer regarding the incident as of Saturday. There is a strong likelihood that their detention by the police will be extended until next Monday.
A source with knowledge of the matter, who requested anonymity, has shared that Sam Larry was detained by police officers at Murtala Muhammed Airport on Thursday night, immediately after his arrival from Kenya.
‘Sam Larry was arrested by policemen at the Murtala Muhammed airport last night (Thursday) after he arrived from Kenya, and he was immediately driven to the Lagos Command Headquarters in Ikeja for questioning,’ the source noted.

In a conversation with reporters, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, shared that the fate of Sam Larry would hinge on the findings of the police inquiry.
The police spokesperson went on to mention that he could not divulge the specifics of the statement given by the controversial socialite to the police. He added that Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa would be addressing the press on this matter in the near future.
Hundeyin revealed, ‘Sam Larry is still with us. But I’m not talking about our plans yet because he’s still under investigation, hence the outcome of our investigation will determine the lifeline of our next move.’
‘I’m not disclosing the content of his statement yet; the Commissioner of Police will address the press over the development soon, and when the CP addresses the press, I’d be able to talk about our investigation so far.’
Earlier Thursday night, SP Hundeyin had disclosed that Sam Larry was arrested and kept in police custody, and was assisting with an ongoing investigation.
Earlier on, the police had issued invitations to both Sam Larry and the singer Azeez Fashola, also recognised as Naira Marley, to participate in questioning regarding the untimely death of Mohbad.
Last week, the police provided confirmation that pathologists had finalised the autopsy process for Mohbad, and they are currently in the process of waiting for the results.
‘Autopsy has been concluded. Awaiting results’, Hundeyin confirmed.
This development followed the exhumation of Mohbad by a combined team of the Nigeria Police Force and health officials.
In another development, the police have taken the nurse who is believed to have administered an injection to the deceased singer before his passing on Tuesday, September 12, into custody.
