Dangote Refinery is gearing up for production commencement, having received its fourth crude shipment of one million barrels of Bonny Light Crude from the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).
Anytime now, Dangote Refinery is set to receive its fifth crude shipment, with expectations building for its arrival in the near future.
According to a statement from Dangote Refinery on Monday, ‘The fresh one million barrels of crude was the fourth consignment to be delivered to the Dangote facility out of the six million barrels of crude being expected by the world’s largest single-train refinery.’
Unveiling details at the Dangote Quay in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, Mr. Akin Omole, Managing Director of Dangote Ports Operations, informed the press that the Refinery is projected to process about four million crude shipments before the conclusion of 2023.
He indicated that the refinery is set to receive the remaining two shipments early in January 2024.
He expressed that the influx of crude supply would position the refinery favorably for the commencement of operations.
Once the six million barrels are fully supplied, it will set the stage for the refinery’s maiden operation, propelling the manufacturing of diesel, aviation fuel, and LPG, with the subsequent progression to the production of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The latest development will play a pivotal role in alleviating the fuel supply challenges faced by Nigeria as well as the West African countries.
Designed for 100% Nigerian crude with the flexibility to process other crudes, the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Petroleum Refinery can process most African crude grades as well as Middle Eastern Arab Light and even US Light tight oil as well as crude from other countries.
