Tiwa Savage Joins Nollywood, Announces New Movie

Popular Nigerian songwriter, singer and entertainer, Tiwa Savage has joined the film industry as both an actress and producer even as she announced her first film. 

She announced that her debut film, ‘Water and Garri,’ will be released later this year, with her as the lead actor.

She explained that the film will be released ‘this year’ and will be aired in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Tiwa Savage made this known via her social media page yesterday night.

She wrote: “Guys, I’m so excited to announce that my first feature film #WaterAndGarri will be released this year through @primevideo and shown in over 240 countries and territories worldwide!

“This has been over two years in the making and I must say this is probably one of the most adventurous, fulfilling things I’ve done. I feel blessed and honoured to not only be making my debut as a lead actor but to have also executively produced this film.

“I honestly can’t wait to take you guys along with me on this next phase of my life and art. I’m just getting started. Huge love to Director @mejialabi. You made a masterpiece! Also Producer @J_adesanya @missamadi.”

Meanwhile, the Lagos police say they’re looking into the petition by Tiwa Savage over alleged bullying and threats to her life by Grammy nominee David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made this known on Wednesday in Lagos.

”I can confirm that we received the petition. We have begun investigation,” he said.

Africa Today News, New York reports that Savage had in the petition dated January 9, addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Adegoke Fayoade, accused Davido of uttering disrespectful words in reaction to a post that included herself and the singer’s baby mama, Sophia Momodu’s Instagram story.

The singer explained how she expressed disappointment at Davido’s threats and reminded him of how she stood by his family, especially when he lost his son.
