NSCDC Takes Down Four Illegal Refineries In Rivers Operation

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) conducted a successful operation, dismantling four illegal oil refining sites in Cawthome Channel One, situated in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The corps reported that individuals believed to be involved in oil theft vandalized facilities, including pipes owned by Sahara Oil, extracting crude oil and subsequently setting up an illicit refining site.

Olufemi Ayodele, the spokesperson for the NSCDC, Rivers State Command, revealed this information in a statement released on Monday night in Port Harcourt.

The statement said the State Commandant ‘ordered massive destruction of all materials used in carrying out the illegal oil bunkering and over four different refining stations have been destroyed altogether’ and noted the suspects took to their heels upon sighting the marine operatives.
