Nigerian Bodybuilder In US Dies After Wife's Shooting

The life of Michael Chidozie, a 26-year-old Nigerian bodybuilder residing in the US, was cut short after succumbing to injuries sustained from gunshot wounds inflicted by his wife, Keaiirra Shavoiyae, during an argument that erupted on March 21st.

According to reports, Chidozie endured the agony of a severe spinal injury while on life support, ultimately meeting his demise due to complications on April 8.

It’s been reported that Chidozie suffered four gunshot wounds allegedly inflicted by his wife during a confrontation inside their Houston residence, with their children present to witness the distressing ordeal.

Africa Today News, New York, was informed that Chidozie was promptly transported to Ben Taub Hospital after police discovered him with gunshot injuries, while his wife was allegedly found in a distressed state, embracing their two young children, aged three and two.

Court filings reviewed by ABC13, a Houston-based media outlet, indicate that Chidozie suffered two gunshot wounds to the torso, one to the arm, and one to the chest.

It added that Keaiirra, 28, was afterwards charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after the shooting, and her charges have not been upgraded since his death.

She purportedly argued self-defense, claiming she shot Chidozie in self-preservation as he pursued her into their bedroom during the altercation, compelling her to grab a pistol and pull the trigger, according to investigators.

Keaiirra, as reported by ABC13, has been released on bail and is scheduled for her next court appearance on May 23.

Chidozie’s relatives are endeavoring to collect $70,000 to repatriate his remains to Nigeria for burial, with a GoFundMe campaign established to assist with the costs.
