CAS Promises To Ensure Continued Tranquility In Kano

Air Vice Marshal Bala Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff, praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Thursday for his efforts in enhancing the Air Force’s operational capabilities in the state, while also committing to maintain peace and stability in the region.

During a courtesy visit to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Government House in Kano, Air Vice Marshal Bala Abubakar commended the governor’s contributions to the Air Force’s success, as revealed in a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.

According to the Chief of Air Staff, the collaborative efforts of his troops with other security agencies have yielded remarkable successes in maintaining internal security in Kano, ensuring peace and stability throughout the state.

Air Marshal Abubakar highlighted the instrumental role of Nigerian Air Force personnel in various operations that resulted in the capture of notorious bandits and kidnappers, including those on the Department of State Services’ (DSS) most-wanted list in Kano.

Air Marshal Abubakar reiterated the Nigerian Air Force’s pledge to maintain peace and stability in Kano, reassuring the state government of its unwavering support.

However, he expressed alarm over the encroachment on NAF land and the re-allocation of its property, urging swift measures to address these pressing issues.

Abubakar pleaded for restoration of the land dedicated for its future expansion.

He also craved the Governor’s support in connecting the Kano state water facility to the NAF Base in the state for access to water supply.

Governor Yusuf pledged to further strengthen the existing partnership between the state government and the Nigerian Air Force, working together to achieve their shared goal of maintaining internal peace and stability in Kano State through efficient operations and collaborative efforts.

Governor Yusuf highlighted the pivotal role of the Nigerian Air Force in safeguarding the nation’s air security and providing crucial air support to ground troops, enabling them to effectively combat internal and external threats.

Governor Yusuf acknowledged the crucial role of the Nigerian Air Force and other military agencies in maintaining stability in Kano, and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to strengthening their institutional partnership and building on their collaborative successes.

He, however, sought the consideration for Kano indigenes in the recruitment exercise of the Nigerian Air Force, indicating the large percentage of youth population in the state.

The Governor equally requested for the establishment of Air Force Girls Comprehensive Secondary in Kano to complement the existing Boys Comprehensive Secondary School which is located in Kwa, in Dawakin Tofa, a long Kano-Katsina express way.

He said: “The government of Kano is proud of you and we are proud of your appointment which was based on professionalism and track record. Kano is also proud of your efforts to tackle the security challenges especially the menace of kidnapers, bandits and other criminals.

“Since we took over the mantle of leadership, the administration has enjoyed tremendous relationship and support from Air Force and sister security agencies and that was responsible for the peace and stability in Kano.

“We assure you that our administration will sustain support to the air force in Kano especially in the area of operation and welfare of your personnel for optimum performance of your statutory mandate. We also want to request for special consideration of placement into the air force consider our population which is estimated at 25 million.

“It is also noteworthy to request the return of Girls Comprehensive secondary school to Kano. We are aware the girls were relocated due to the security challenge. We are also in need of more personnel to strengthen human capacity of the troops in Kano.”
