Iran has reported that at least 12 journalists and media professionals lost their lives in Israeli airstrikes during the recent conflict between the two countries.
According to state media on Thursday, the media division of the Basij paramilitary forces – a unit under the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps – confirmed the updated toll after identifying two more casualties among media workers.
The group accused Israel of intentionally targeting press facilities to stifle independent reporting and silence what it called the “media of the Resistance Front,” referring to Iran and its regional allies opposed to Israeli policies.
This revelation comes as the human toll of the 12-day war continues to mount, despite the fighting coming to an end last month. The hostilities erupted on June 13 after a sudden Israeli offensive, marking one of the most extensive bombing campaigns against Iran to date, striking not only military and nuclear sites but also residential neighbourhoods.

Among the targets hit during the conflict was the headquarters of Iran’s state broadcaster located in northern Tehran.
Iranian officials say the recent Israeli offensive left a devastating toll, killing over 1,060 people, including senior military commanders, prominent nuclear scientists, and hundreds of civilians.
In response to the strikes, Iran launched waves of drone and missile attacks that killed at least 28 people within Israeli territory, according to official reports.
