The Ibadan community, under the umbrella of the Eyin Grammar Community Development Association, has appealed to the Oyo State Government to improve the learning environment and strengthen security in schools within the area.
The association’s chairman, Alhaji Mukaila Ajibike, made the call during a press briefing in Ibadan on Wednesday, where he praised Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration for its achievements so far. However, Ajibike stressed that urgent attention is still needed in certain areas, particularly in tackling insecurity that has become a growing concern for both students and residents.
He pointed to the broken perimeter fence between Ibadan Grammar School and Anglican Grammar School, Molete, which, according to him, has turned into a major access route for criminals. These intruders, he said, often exploit the situation to harass residents and disrupt peace in the neighborhood.
“We are always scared to return home from work because we don’t know what we are going to encounter on the way,” Ajibike explained. “Most residents have been attacked with dangerous weapons by hoodlums masquerading as students. Hence, our appeal to the government and relevant security agencies is to provide adequate security through the deployment of personnel to monitor both students and the community. There is also a need for regular security patrols, especially during school hours.”

Beyond security, Ajibike also raised concerns about the poor state of roads in the community, which he said continues to affect mobility, business activities, and overall quality of life. He urged the state government to prioritize infrastructural improvements that would benefit both schools and residents.
Despite these challenges, Ajibike reaffirmed that the Eyin Grammar Community remains peace-loving and committed to partnering with the government to maintain law and order. He assured that the community is ready to cooperate fully with authorities in fostering sustainable development, provided the necessary support is given.
With insecurity and infrastructure standing out as pressing issues, Ajibike’s appeal reflects the broader concerns of Ibadan residents who continue to hope for practical interventions from the Oyo State Government.
