Vincent Kompany Extends Bayern Munich Contract Until 2029

Vincent Kompany Extends Bayern Munich Contract Until 2029

Vincent Kompany has extended his contract as head coach of Bayern Munich until 30 June 2029, the Bundesliga club announced on 21 October 2025.

The previous agreement had been set to expire in summer 2027, meaning Bayern have secured Kompany’s services for two additional years — a clear signal of long-term faith in his leadership.

Kompany joined Bayern ahead of the 2024-25 season, arriving from Burnley and promptly guided the club to a Bundesliga title in his first campaign. This season also began with a storming run: Bayern started with seven straight league wins and have recorded 11 wins in 11 matches across all competitions.

Reflecting on the extension, Kompany said:

“I am grateful, honoured and would like to thank FC Bayern for the trust and the working environment they’ve given me from day one. It feels like I’ve been here a lot longer and that I know the club well. It’s been a great experience so far. We’ve started on a wonderful journey. Let’s keep working hard and celebrate much more success!”

Club president Herbert Hainer described the extension as “a strong vote of confidence … and also a clear signal for continuity and stability at FC Bayern.” Chief executive Jan‑Christian Dreesen added that Kompany “has brought the fun back to Bayern — and the spark has really caught on,” highlighting his influence beyond results.

With this deal, Bayern have given Kompany a firm foundation to build their next chapter. The extension suggests that the club’s board is comfortable with the direction of his footballing philosophy — one focused on dominance, attraction and renewal — and trusts him to steer the next cycle of success.

From a broader perspective, locking down a coach for four further seasons amid Europe’s fiercely competitive landscape positions Bayern with a rare element of stability. For Kompany, it underscores his status as one of the sport’s most promising young tacticians and gives him the runway to imprint his vision at one of football’s elite institutions.
