It was a melodrama today at the joint session of the National Assembly, where President Mohammadu Buhari presented the 2019 budget.
Buhari was shouted down when he started reeling out the achievements of his government.
Shouts of “Noooooooo”, and “Lieeeesssss” rented the air when Buhari told the lawmakers that Nigerian economy has recovered and is out of recession, and that Boko Haram activities had been degraded in the North East.
It got to a point that Buhari who was visibly angry abandoned his speech, and said to the lawmakers:
“Distinguished members, let us conduct ourselves properly. The world is watching us and we are supposed to be above this.”
The lawmakers however continued and even shouted more when Buhari said his administration had made a huge gain in the anti-corruption fight.
