No Serious Leader Will Go On Rest - Obi Takes Swipe At Tinubu

The Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi has asserted that no serious leader would go on a rest (vacation) in Nigeria given the enormity of problems bedeviling the country. 

The former Governor of Anambra State made this disclosure on Monday when he paid the Muslim community in Akwa Central Mosque an Eid-el-fitr visit.

He appealed to Nigerians not to allow themselves to be divided based on religion or politics by politicians.

He said: ‘People who want to rest can go and relax. I am not resting because I have to visit schools and hospitals and interact with people.

‘No serious leader will go and rest in Nigeria. We will continue to visit as many people as possible and support them as best we can’.

Africa Today News, New York had earlier reported that the President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Nigeria on Monday amid cheers from supporters and associates.

Tinubu also used the opportunity to debunk rumours that his health was failing after he returned to the country following a month of absence.

Africa Today News, New York recalls that the former Lagos governor had in March jetted out of the country to France at night shortly after the elections, there have been rumours that he was rushed abroad for medical attention.

Despite the fact that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has come out repeatedly to clarify that the president-elect only traveled to have some rest and recuperate from the election stress, some stakeholders have questioned his state of health and whereabouts.

Speaking with some party supporters shortly after arriving Abuja on Monday, Tinubu explained that as far he is concerned, that he has rested well and refreshed, stressing that he was prepared for the task ahead.
