The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has again passed a vote of confidence on Julius Abure, insisting that he remains the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP) despite several moves against his position.
Despite a recent leadership crisis inside the LP, NLC President Joe Ajaero maintains that Abure is the party’s chairman.
The NLC chief stated this while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics on Tuesday which was monitored by Africa Today News, New York.
‘Well, Julius Abure remains the national chairman of the Labour Party. Nobody has conducted any convention,’ he said.
‘There is no meeting nor NEC meeting called which NLC as trustees has attended where any officer has been removed.’
According to him, a convention will soon be held to elect new leaders.

An LP chieftain Lamidi Apapa had declared himself as the chairman of the party but the NLC says it does not recognise him.
He pointed out that even if Abure is removed, a NEC meeting must be held for another to take his place which was not the case with Apapa.
Away from the Labour Party leadership tussle, Ajaero also spoke about labour crises in the country.
The NLC boss faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration for its inability to address workers’ demands which he believes will give the incoming government much trouble.
Africa Today News, New York recalls that last week, the NLC had come out to distance itself from what it described as a false publication making the rounds in the social media issued in the name of Labour and Civil Society Front, LCSF, threatening to shut down the country, if electoral justice was not delivered by 29th May.
Ajaero had in a statement he personally signed insisted that the purported statement and its content were not only false but mischief by its authors to drag the NLC and the trade union movement into their warped contrivance for purposes best known to them.
