Traditional leaders in Ondo state have called upon politicians to prioritize Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s health over political feuds in his absence. Led by Deji of Akure land, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, the State Council of Obas organized a solemn prayer session at the cocoa conference hall in the Governor’s office.
Monarchs from various regions of the state graced the occasion, showing their solidarity and well wishes for the governor’s swift recovery.
Oba Aladelusi expressed his disapproval of the needless commotion caused by individuals seeking to exploit the Governor’s absence for their own political agendas. He fervently implored them to refrain from creating any form of unnecessary and avoidable turmoil within the state, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability.
He said: ‘Rather than causing unnecessary tension, the politicians should rather come together and pray for the Governor and the state to seek the good of the land.’

The solemn Christian prayer was led by Oba (Rev’d.) Luyi Rotimi, the Olujigba of Ijigba, Akure. With heartfelt solemnity, Oba Luyi Rotimi asked God to bestow upon the governor a swift recovery, enabling him to persevere in the commendable endeavors he has undertaken for the betterment of the state.
The Monarch drew quotes from various scriptures, highlighting numerous instances where God had healed the sick, regardless of the nature or cause of their afflictions.

The Abodi of Ikale, Oba G.B Faduyile, alongside fellow traditional rulers, offered solemn traditional prayers for the governor, whom he acknowledged as a source of pride for both Ondo State and the entire nation.
Representing the Chief Imam of Akure, Alhaji Yusuf Agbesinga, the Imam of Gaga Community led a poignant Islamic prayer, extending supplications not only for the governor’s well-being but also for the welfare and prosperity of the entire state.
According to a statement released by Adeyeye Michael, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deji of Akure, the collective decision of the Obas to convene and seek divine intervention was motivated by their individual prayers offered at their respective domains and different times.
Oba Aladetoyinbo, in his heartfelt address, lauded the governor as a courageous leader who has made significant contributions to the state, particularly in the areas of security and infrastructure. His commendations mirrored the deep respect and admiration the traditional rulers held for Governor Akeredolu’s dedicated service to Ondo State.
‘Therefore, what the Obas can do at this critical time is to pray for him so that he can continue the good works that he is doing in the State and Nigeria.’
In another noteworthy development, the state’s All Progressive Congress chairman, Ade Adetimehin, released a statement aimed at alleviating worries about party polarization, emphasising the party’s unity and solidarity.
According to the statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, Adetimehin stated that ‘We seize this opportunity to allay any fear that we are polarized.’
He said that ‘Mr. Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, and his deputy, Hon. Lucky Ayedatiwa, are on the same page, working for the infrastructural and socioeconomic development of the State.’
‘The party views the electoral fortunes of the APC at all levels as divine arrangements. It is not common for a party that swims against both religious and economic tide to prevail unscratched in a general election.’
‘The party further expresses delight at the dedication of men and women of faith, who set aside quality time to seek the face of the Almighty God on the political tsunami that ravaged the Sunshine State in recent times. We remain unperturbed.’
Adetimehin added,’The victory songs and the peace being experienced today might not be there without your prayers and sacrifices. We implore you to always place Nigeria ahead of personal gains.’
The Obas lauded Governor Akeredolu’s exemplary leadership and highlighted his notable contributions to the state, particularly in security and infrastructure development. They implored all stakeholders to prioritize the greater good and work harmoniously for the progress and success of Ondo State.
