Salah's Brace Catapults Liverpool To Premier League's Top

Mohamed Salah‘s two-goal performance at Anfield has propelled Liverpool to the same points total as Manchester City and Arsenal, co-leading the Premier League standings with a 3-0 win over Brentford on Sunday.

The Egyptian striker increased his season goal count to 12, with nine of those netted at Anfield, contributing to Liverpool’s unblemished home performance this season.

With nine assists from Darwin Nunez, Salah’s goals found their provider as the Uruguayan, initially frustrated in front of goal, played a pivotal role in breaking the first-half deadlock.

Twice, Nunez scored, only to have both goals ruled out for offside.

A well-executed pass into Salah by him resulted in a calm finish into the far corner, marking the start of a goal-scoring spree at 39 minutes.

Salah has etched his name in history by being the first player to score in Liverpool’s first six home league games of a season.

Alisson Becker came to the rescue for Liverpool, making excellent saves to deny Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo their chances for Brentford.

Brentford created openings, but Alisson Becker’s exceptional saves prevented goals from Ethan Pinnock and Bryan Mbeumo.

Once Salah was left unmarked and headed in Kostas Tsimikas’ cross at the back post on the hour mark, there was no recovery for the Bees.

16 minutes from the final whistle, Diogo Jota netted the third goal, securing Liverpool’s ninth win with a total of 27 goals from nine games at Anfield in all competitions this season.

Manchester City has the chance to extend their lead by three points at the top of the table when the champions play against Chelsea later on Sunday.
