COVID-19 -' Nigeria Now Has Over 35,000 Confirmed Cases

There over 35,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria as of Saturday morning.

Last night, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 600 new positive cases.

It brought the total to 35,454 in the country.

Despite the increase in new cases, there was a significant drop in the death toll, with only three fatalities recorded.

The recovery rate also increased from 14,292 to 14,633.

The number of active cases has also increased from 19,500 to 20,049 patients.

As the number of cases continues to increase globally, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has urged countries to work towards improving livelihoods considering the impact of lockdown measures.

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, Tedros Ghebreyesus, director-general of the WHO, also urged countries to endeavour to focus more efforts on building sustainable health systems.
