Despite been compared to former Nigerian striker, Victor Agali due to his gangling nature and aerial prowess, Amokachi, insisted that Onuachu deserved to spearhead Super Eagles attack ahead of the team’s 2021 Africa Nations Cup qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho.

Amokach who is a 1996 Olympic gold medalist said: ‘Paul Onuachu has a better chance to spearhead the attack for Nigeria,’, as per Today.

‘He’s the only one, and that’s if the coaching crew knows how to use him.

‘What Onuachu is experiencing in the Super Eagles was what Victor Agali faced during his time in the team.

‘We didn’t use him well. He was scoring goals when he was in Germany, but the pattern of play in the Eagles did not suit him.’

Many Nigerians have often wondered why Onuachu always finds it difficult to replicate his European form anytime he comes down to play for his fatherland. some are of the view that without efficient wingers that the powerful striker hardly gets space to run and create scoring opportunities for himself. some are of the opinion that he is better in the air and therefore what Genet Rohr actually needs to do is to get in Wingers and fullbacks who can cross the ball into the box more efficiently.

Rohr believes that the striker who plies his trade in Belgium would soon rediscover himself if he continues to get enough playing time in the Eagles team.
