Dozens of Somali mothers have taken to the streets in demonstrations asking the government to bring back their children who they say were being trained in Eritrea.

The protesting mothers told reporters yesterday that they have not heard from their children.

Somalia’s Information Minister Osman Abukar Dubbe said the youths were still being trained in Eritrea and that they would return after the training ended.

Parents of the recruits had expressed concern after reports that Somali soldiers were involved in the fighting in Ethiopia’s Tigray region.

Africa Today News, New York understands that Eritrea’s Information Minister Yemane Meskel has dismissed allegations that Somali troops fought with Eritrean troops in Ethiopia.
