2023 Atiku Formally Declares Interest To Run For President

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar on Thursday formally joined the presidential race ahead of the 2023 general elections.

According to a video which was obtained by Africa Today News, New York, Atiku, who lost the last elections to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 presidential elections, made the declaration while meeting with some stakeholders.

The former VP pointed out that his decision followed the need for good governance in Nigeria, maintaining that he has all it takes to salvage the country from the numerous challenges facing it.

According to Atiku, ‘We are in one of the trying and tough times in our history in this country. Poverty insecurity joblessness and insecurity

‘There has never been a time when Nigerians need serious leadership than now.

‘PDP is in a better position to offer Nigerians that desirable leadership. That is what I want to offer. I want to offer solutions to our problems.

‘I have the experience in the lower and highest level. As a vice president of Nigeria, I made much progress in national transformation.

‘As a businessman, I have solved grassroot problems by creating jobs for thousands of people’.

Africa Today News, New York recalls that Atiku had come under heavy criticism last week when he said that Nigerian youths who feel they are eligible to aspire should challenge him in the Presidential contest.

When he was asked if he was confident of getting the presidential ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku stated that he had won the ticket before, noting that he was not afraid to throw his hat into the ring again. This particular comment drew condemnation from a number of stalwarts of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) including Rivers State Governor who believe the statement was demeaning on party delegates.
