Terrorists on Friday sacked Rijana community in Kachia Local Council of Kaduna State and abducted the village head, Ayuba Dakolo, as well as several farmers.

Africa Today News, New York gathered that the village head was abducted alongside other farmers at Kurmi, near Chikwale in Kachia.

Rijana, a community off the busy Abuja–Kaduna highway, notorious for frequent attacks by bandits.

Local sources told newsmen on Saturday morning that the bandits have reached out to community leaders in Rijana with two lists of demands including gallons of petrol and engine oil, as well as cigarettes.

The spokesman of the Kaduna State police command, Mohammed Jalige, did not respond to calls but a senior police officer said that security agents had been notified of the incident.

Africa Today News, New York reports that this was coming even as President Muhammadu Buhari’s political associate, Faruok Aliyu, was nearly killed on Wednesday night, when gunmen suspected to be assassins attacked his Kano residence.

According to sources, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former member of the House of Representatives escaped bullet shots.

His wife, Zuwaira, stated on her Facebook page: ‘My husband escaped from assassins last night in Kano. May Allah continue to protect him and us Ameen.’

Kano police confirmed the story through its image-maker, Abdullahi Kiyawa, who assured the family that the police would not rest until those behind the attack were brought to book.

Meanwhile, Africa Today News, New York can confirm that for a hitch-free Sallah, the Borno State Police Command on Friday deployed 6,000 personnel ahead of next week.

The deployment followed terrorists’ threats of targeting soft spots in Maiduguri, Bama and Konduga councils.

Announcing the deployment, yesterday, in Maiduguri, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Sani Shatambaya, disclosed that the terrorists threatened to bomb soft spots during Sallah festivities.
