In a suprising turn of events, popular Stateswoman from Adamawa State, Senator Aisha Dahiru Ahmed Binani has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket in Adamawa State while upsetting male candidates such as Nuhu Ribadu and former governor Jibrilla Bindow.
Announcing the results in Yola, the state capital, the election committee chairman, Malam Gambo, said Binani scored the highest number of votes in the election, which was contested by some heavyweights in the state.
She scored 430 votes while Ribadu, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), trailed with 288 votes. Former governor Muhammadu Jibrilla Bindow, came third with 103 votes, while Abdurrazaq Namda polled 94 votes.

Wafari Theman got 39 votes.
Umar Mustapha Madawaki and Wafarniyi Theman respectively came fifth and sixth.
Binani, the senator representing Adamawa Central zone had previously served as member House of Representatives for Yola North/Yola South/Girei Federal Constituency.
Aisha Binani will be the second female governorship candidate to be fielded by the APC since 2015 in the north east region.
The first was late Aisha Alhassan, who was narrowly beaten for the Taraba state governorship seat by Governor Darius Ishaku.
