Terrorists

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen suspected to be bandits on Thursday unleashed another terror attack on four communities of Zamfara State, leaving scores of the villagers dead.

An eyewitness who spoke to reporters narrated that the number of locals killed could not be specified, informing that the bandits kidnapped many of the villagers, leaving four people with various degrees of injuries.

Africa Today News, New York reports that the villages are Gidan Dan-Inna, Gwaji, Karoka in Kwai-Kwai District and Faru, In Faru District of Bungudu and Maradun local government areas of the state

The eyewitness further revealed that most of those killed were local vigilante group members who were protecting the villages, pointing out that some of the community members were attacked on their farms.

The terrorists were said to have invaded the villages with sophisticated arms killing and rustling cattle.

The villages were reportedly attacked Sunday evening and Monday morning respectively, while properties worth millions of naira were destroyed

When contacted by reporters, the State Police Command Spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu confirmed the incident, saying twenty persons were killed in three villages of Bungudu Local Government and five others in Maradun Local Government Areas of the State.

SP Shehu said four villagers sustained various degrees of injuries and were currently receiving medical treatments in an undisclosed health facility

He went on to explain that armed operatives have been deployed to the affected and neighbouring communities to ensure the security of lives and properties in the axis.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier in the week claimed that his administration has decimated terrorists in the country, claiming that the men of the ‘underworld’ have now been boxed into a corner where they can no longer launch lethal attack from.
