Tragedy struck on Tuesday as the Zonal Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Jigawa Central, Alhaji Isa Burji, slumped and died at a hotel in Abuja just before the commencement of the primaries.
The Chairman, APC Jigawa East, Alhaji Abdullahi Ango, revealed this to reporters at Eagle Square, venue of the APC Special National Convention.
Ango said the deceased died at around 3.30 p.m., on Tuesday, few hours to the commencement of the convention.

He described the death as sudden, adding, ‘the deceased had his lunch and had performed his afternoon prayers.
‘He had no known history of any ailment. He just slumped and died instantly.’
Africa Today News, New York reports that some of the Nigerian Journalists who were accredited and certified for the coverage of All Progressives Congress (APC) Special Convention in Abuja have been denied entry by security agents at the Eagle Square venue of the event.

Canisters of tear gas were fired at the journalists by the security agents who stood their ground on preventing the journalists even with their accreditation tags.
The event, which is holding at the Eagle Square in Abuja, will see 2,340 delegates queuing to choose their preferred presidential candidate.
In the lead-up to the exercise, 28 presidential hopefuls had picked the nomination and expression of interest forms, but five of them later pulled out.
Twenty-three aspirants later appeared before the APC presidential screening committee led by the party’s former chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun.
