Sonia, who is the ailing daughter of former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, has cried out for help many months after her organ donor scandal broke which has kept her parents in the news.

Africa Today News, New York reports that the 25-year-old in a lengthy Instagram post on Monday confirmed that she had to drop out of the University of Newcastle in 2019, after being diagnosed with a rare kidney disease known as FSGS Nephrotic Syndrome.

Sonia in the post confirmed that she is presently in London, UK, where she receives five hours of dialysis 3-4 times a week.

Although she refused to share details on the legal issues that have seen her father put in prison, she revealed that “in the time that my father has been incarcerated, he has been diagnosed with acute kidney damage”.

A part of the statement then added: “In the circumstance above, I am appealing to anybody whom it may please to assist me willingly with a kidney donation in the name of God.

‘This appeal would have been utterly unnecessary as every member of my family is eager to donate their kidney to me, knowing that I would do the same for any of them. Regrettably, a comprehensive medical examination showed that my case of nephrotic syndrome is a genetic illness and the doctors advised against donation from any of my family members, as it would likely reoccur. In the time that my father has been incarcerated, he has been diagnosed with acute kidney damage.’

Africa Today News, New York recalls that last week, David Ukpo, the victim of the alleged organ harvest involving Senator Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to set aside its July 1 order for the release of his bio-data for use in a London Court in Ekweremadu’s trial.
