Ahead of next year’s Presidential election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, has vowed to do everything possible to end insecurity in Nigeria.

Tinubu promised to ensure that oil reserves are fully explored in the Benue trough and Chad basin for the development of the North and the country.

The former Lagos helmsman spoke on Monday at a meeting with some Northern groups in Kaduna.

The APC flagbearer disclosed there was abundant oil and gas in the Benue Trough, Chad Basin, and other prospective locations in the North.

Tinubu pledged to complete the ongoing Abuja-Kaduna-Kano and the trans-Saharan gas pipeline project.

‘I acknowledge the primacy of security as the number one function of government’, he was quoted saying.

‘My administration will give it all the necessary attention and consolidate on the recent investments.’

Tinubu said as governor, he adopted many initiatives, especially the Security Trust Fund, to address many needs of the security forces.

The APC co-founder added that he returned order, tamed what could have been an ethnic war and made Lagos one of the safest states.

The politician further assured that all elements threatening peace, security and unity will be dealt with.

‘I guarantee you, we will end kidnapping and banditry’, he promised.

In a related development, Tinubu has called on his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterpart, Atiku Abubakar, to step down and endorse him for the 2023 presidential poll.

He stated this when he met with leaders from the northern part of the country under the umbrella of the Arewa Joint Committee for an interactive session on Monday.

The interactive session took place at the Arewa House in Kaduna.

It was organised by a coalition of six groups including the Arewa Consultative Forum, Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation, Northern Elders Forum, Jamar Matan Arewa, among others.
