Allow Nigerians Choose Their Leaders, Sultan Tells Politicians

Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III who is the Sultan of Sokoto, has called on all Nigerians to pray fervently against the reappearance of massive flood disasters and some of the other natural disasters in the nation.

Abubakar had also disclosed this on Saturday during his coronation and presentation of the Staff of Office to the 12th Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Farouq Umar, in Bauchi and the Sultan, who had been represented by the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, had also revealed that all-natural disasters like floods were ordained by the Almighty Allah and should be accepted by all in good faith.

He said, “We’re also here to sympathise with our brothers and sisters who have died or been affected by the recent floods in the country.”

He added that there is nothing anyone can do in such circumstances than to accept whatever happens in good faith.

The Sultan also hailed Governor Bala Mohammed for the presentation of the Staff of Office to one of the flag bearers of Usman Danfodio Caliphate.

In another report, as political parties move to begin campaigns for the 2023 poll on Wednesday (tomorrow), key stakeholders in the Nigerian project have given a stern warning to political parties to avoid violence during the exercise.

the Independent National Electoral Commission; the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha and the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III have given a stern warning to political parties to avoid violence during the exercise.

The development came amid rising insecurity in the country as politicians also step up efforts to protect themselves with the demand for bulletproof cars and security gadgets rising in recent months.

The Chairman of INEC, Mahmud Yakubu, pointed out that abusive and slanderous words could provoke violence during the campaigns.

Yakubu, who was represented by a National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, spoke at a workshop in Lagos on Monday.
