Naira Scarcity APC NWC Summons Govs To Emergency Meeting
Senator Abdullahi Adamu

Ahead of next Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly election, the Senator Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee NWC of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a summon to governors on the platform of the party to an emergency meeting in Abuja.

Africa Today News, New York reports that the meeting slated for 2 pm on Sunday (Tomorrow) is coming barely a week before the elections.

Although the agenda for the meeting was not disclosed, Saturday Vanguard gathered that it was not unconnected with developments in the polity, especially the current cash crunch and its effects on campaigns.

‘The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), His Excellency, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, invites State Governors of the Party to an emergency meeting to be held on Sunday, February 19, 2023, by 2 pm at the National Secretariat, Abuja’, party spokesman, Felix Morka said in a message sent out Friday night.

Saturday Vanguard reports that since the Naira Swap policy began, the NWC has not meted as a body to take a decision on the matter even though one of its members had exonerated the party, saying it was not carried along.

Recall that Kano State Governor, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje had on Thursday lashed out at President Muhammadu Buhari over his refusal to abide by the Supreme Court order and going ahead with the ban on the old Naira notes.

In an audio recording which was obtained by Africa Today News, New York on Friday, Ganduje was quoted in Hausa Language asking, that, ‘President Buhari should remember that for several times he was trying to contest Presidency but he couldn’t make it until there was an alliance, but now after enjoying everything, he turned back against the same democratic system that saw him to office’.

He said, ‘the President should remember that this is a democratic setting that allows popular voice and leaders to listen to advice and adhere strictly to those advice.’
