Extrajudicial Killings: Interpol Nabs Wanted Whistleblower

Reports reaching the desk of Africa Today News, New York has it that a member of the National Youths Service Corps, Mr. Emeh Nnamdi, who was earlier declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force for impersonation and defamation of character, has been apprehended.

Nnamdi was said to have been arrested during a joint operation by INTERPOL operatives of Benin Republic and Nigeria on Friday, March 3, 2023.

Recall that the 26-year-old corps member had been declared wanted on February 20, 2023, by the Anambra State Police Command on the offence of unlawful possession of a firearm, money laundering, defamation of character, fraud, and impersonation.

He was also wanted in connection with allegations he made via his Gistlover Instagram handle, that top police officers in the state Police Command were involved in kidnapping, killing of suspects, and human organ harvesting after extorting them.

The Nigerian police Force had launched a full scale investigation into the said allegations.

CSP Muyiwa Adejobi who is the Force Public Relations Officer announced the launch of a full-scale probe in a statement on Tuesday.

Adejobi confirmed Special Investigation Panel (SIP) investigators have moved to scenes and sites for on-the-spot-assessment.

The team has been tasked to harness available means and spread its tentacles towards ensuring that all information received are examined.

It was gathered that Nnamdi is an IT expert serving as a tracker in the Anambra State Police Command.

According to the report, the suspect is currently in police custody in Abuja.

All efforts to get the reaction of the state police spokesman, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, proved abortive, as he did not pick calls nor respond to text messages sent to his mobile phone as at the time of filing this report.
