Hon Stephen Adewale, the chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Ondo state, expressed optimism toward the party’s activities, maintaining that it will foster a sense of pride among the state’s residents.

Adewale’s assurance came during the Ondo central senatorial stakeholders meeting of the party, where he highlighted the party’s determination for progress, held at its secretariat in Akure.

The meeting, attended by party leaders from the six local governments in Ondo Central Senatorial District and the council area chairmen of Akure North, Akure South, Idanre, Ifedore, Ondo East, and Ondo West, focused on preparations for the upcoming local government election in the state.

Speaking at the meeting, Hon Adewale, the state chairman, relayed his satisfaction at the remarkable turnout of party members, acknowledging their resilience and strength in overcoming the hurdles encountered during and after the 2023 general election.

The purpose of the gathering, as stated by Adewale, was to foster an open and constructive dialogue, focusing on the hurdles confronting the party and brainstorming effective solutions to advance its growth and development.

Adewale expressed sincere gratitude to the assembled individuals for their unyielding support and unwavering affection. He also commended their indispensable contribution in advancing the party to new heights.

The chairman assured the party Chieftains that their relentless efforts would continue in the pursuit of establishing the party as a beacon of pride and excellence within the state.

Adewale confidently stated that the party would showcase its strength and determination during the council election, aiming to achieve remarkable success by winning key council areas across the state.

The leaders present at the meeting took the opportunity to address and discuss the pressing issues and challenges that the party is currently facing.

Financial constraints were cited by the leaders as a significant hurdle that has hampered the party’s activities and development in the council areas, prompting the need for innovative solutions to address this issue.

In their plea, the leaders requested the immediate attention of the state Executive members to tackle the financial challenges faced by the party as it will positively impact the party’s overall performance.

Adebola Aina called upon Party Stakeholders to remain steadfast and diligent in their mobilization efforts for the upcoming local government elections, noting the need for meticulous planning.

The stakeholders left no stone unturned in their heartfelt appeal to the party’s national leaders, stressing the urgent need for robust financial backing to revitalize the Local Government structure and pave the way for the influx of fresh, enthusiastic members.

Fuelled by the hope of an improved party system, they affirmed their determination to return to their local government domains for mobilisation ahead of the elections.

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has rescheduled the local government polls, originally set for December 16th, to February 17th next year, allowing for additional time to ensure a smooth and well-organized electoral process.
