Tragic US Air Crashes: 4 Dead, 2 Injured

At least 2 fatalities have been recorded and two more wounded in a tragic accident involving a helicopter and a gyrocopter that collided mid-air on Saturday, near Oshkosh, Wisconsin, in the United States.

Officials have confirmed that two more lives were claimed in a different accident, wherein a small plane crashed into a nearby lake.

In an official statement obtained by CBS News, the spokesperson for the Experimental Aircraft Association disclosed that the mid-air collision happened a little before 12:30 p.m. local time, in close proximity to the Wittman Regional Airport.

The spokesperson mentioned that the EAA received information from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department stating that two people lost their lives, and two others were injured in the collision.

Africa Today News, New York gathered that the National Transportation Safety Board informed the EAA that the aircraft involved in the collision belonged to individuals who were attending the EAA’s annual fly-in convention in Oshkosh but were not participating in the air show.

The Federal Aviation Administration has officially identified the aircraft in the collision as a Rotorway 162F helicopter and an ELA Eclipse 10 gyrocopter, both carrying two individuals.

The FAA provided details of a distinct occurrence, stating that a small North American T-6 plane, carrying two individuals, crashed into Lake Winnebago near Oshkosh at approximately 9 a.m. on Saturday, shortly after its departure from Wittman Regional Airport.

The sheriff’s office reported that both people on the small North American T-6 plane died as a result.

As part of their investigation process, the FAA and the NTSB are examining both incidents. The names of the victims involved in the crashes have not been released yet, and the full circumstances surrounding the accidents are yet to be elucidated.
