Tinubu Inherited A Horrible Economic Situation – Oshiomhole

A former Governor of Edo State and the senator representing the Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, has come out to assert that the government of President Bola Tinubu inherited a terrible economic situation which he is now working assiduously to fix.

Oshiomhole made this known on Tuesday during an interview session with journalists shortly after meeting with the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to the former National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), some of the decisions taken by the current administration are the first step towards revamping the economy.

He added that President Tinubu and his deputy had shown courage and determination to stop the corruption of the subsidy regime and in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), while appealing to Nigerians to be patient.

Africa Today News, New York recalls that Oshiomhole had two weeks ago defended the President Tinubu, stressing that those who voted him as president are aware he is not a magician.

Oshiomhole pointed out that there was no time Tinubu pledged to fix the country’s numerous problems in 24 hours during his presidential campaign.

He said, ‘They know they were not electing a magician. And nobody promised a magical solution. Don’t bother giving me an example. I know what we (APC) promised more than you. Whatever is reported, we are the source. We did not promise anyone a 24-hour solution and we did not promise an overnight solution. Can you show me any document where we said in 24 hours, this will be done?’

“I think you are the ones who have the illusion that once a promise is made, automatically once he (Tinubu) gets into office, either spiritually or by miracles, solutions will emerge. What Nigerians need is what the president has demonstrated – the courage to take the decision, humility to admit some of the unintended consequences of those decisions, and, of course, the will to deal with those consequences.

Continuing, Oshiomhole stated that resolving the fuel hike, unemployment and other challenges is not something that can happen in a day.
